The ZIG furniture set was inspired by the growing gap in quality between expensive, well designed furniture, and cheaply made, poorly designed pieces. By reserving the purposefully designed pieces as luxury items, they become unaffordable and not practical for many. The purpose of ZIG is to elevate low cost materials by combining them with highly designed pieces in order to fuse good design, affordability, and functionality.
The set is open source, meaning the pieces can be altered and modified by the user to fit their space and needs. The basic triangular configuration provides a sturdy and aesthetic base that can be expanded upon and reshaped to make multiple pieces. The set consists of three pieces; a stool, a table, and a chair. ZIG allows the user to both design and build basic furniture for their living situation. The furniture is easy to build, disassemble, and move from one place to another. ZIG bridges the gap between design and accessibility for all.
